I’ve tried very hard to use ingredients that can usually be found in American grocery stores, and the recipes include steps to make the preparation process as simple as possible. Each recipe starts with a dish that I remember from my past, or one I have since discovered, and then adapted as necessary to make it my own and to fit the American table. That’s the “Nelly” twist and it’s what helps each dish stand out as a unique representation of both the African AND American palates.
